Medicating Complex Trauma - First Do No Harm

Guest Speaker: Dr Ian McCracken - Psychiatrist

The presentation will centre around a case study showing one example of how Ian and a large multifaceted team have, despite powerful pressures to do otherwise, significantly reduced the medications of a 15-year-old boy, for the better.

Part of the message is that we all – prescribers and non-prescribers – have an obligation to advocate for more judicious use of medications in those people with significant trauma in their background, especially when there is an absence of good quality evidence.
