Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day

International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day occurs every October and is an invitation for parents and families across Australia to honour their babies who passed away from stillbirth, miscarriage or postnatal causes. At The Hummingbird Centre, we recognise the profound effects of losing a baby and its impact on parents, families and loved ones.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day aims to raise awareness of the need for support, encourage people to talk and reflect, and honour the babies who have passed away. For some, it is an opportunity to take time to reflect on their feelings, do something to remember your baby, or get involved in pregnancy loss awareness or research support events which occur during the month of October. Further information about such events can be found on the Sands Australia website at https://www.sands.org.au

If you or a family member or friend need support following the loss of a baby, you can contact our clinicians who are trained and experienced in working with a range of difficulties including pregnancy and infant loss. Sands Australia also has a helpline on 1300 072 637 that can be accessed 24 hours, and a range of support programs and resources, including information, groups, and phone and online support at https://www.sands.org.au

If you would like support, please see our Perinatal Team page for further information on our team members and services.
