Affiliates and Staff Training & Supervision
At The Hummingbird Centre, it is our belief that to provide the best possible assessment and treatment to clients, our staff and affiliates need to work in a supportive and encouraging environment, where they are given plenty of opportunity to develop their skills and experience. In 2020, the Hummingbird Centre will offer multiple exclusive professional development opportunities for our staff and affiliates.
The Mission of The Hummingbird Centre is to create a warm, supportive, collaborative and growth-oriented team environment from which our team of compassionate and dedicated clinicians are empowered to provide high quality mental health assessment and treatment, support and training to our clients, professionals and the community. We aim to continue to find evidence-based yet innovative ways to provide exceptional levels of service to our clients and professionals. We value connection, growth, fun, innovation, safety and contribution.
It can be difficult to organise and attend the training required to effectively provide our services. At The Hummingbird Centre, we endeavour to reduce the time and costs associated with travel and training registrations, by bringing the training to you. In 2019, some of our training opportunities include:
Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule - Second Edition (ADOS-2)
The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule - Second Edition (ADOS-2) is a semistructured, standardised assessment of communication, social interaction, play, and restricted and repetitive behaviours. By observing and coding these behaviours, clinicians can obtain information that informs diagnosis, intervention, treatment planning, and educational placement.
The ADOS-2 requires formal and specific training. The Hummingbird Centre will offer our staff and affiliates the opportunity to participate in the ADOS-2 Training Package, which contains training videos on DVD and a Training Guidebook, in addition to the opportunity to work with, and be supervised by, several clinicians who have previously completed this training and performed autism assessments over several years.
We will discuss complexities of Autism diagnoses, the differences between Autism and other similar presentations (such as those on the trauma spectrum) and provide plenty of opportunity for hands-on practice.
Attachment, Regulation and Competency (ARC) Trauma Treatment for Children and Adolescents - 2 Day Certificate Course
The Hummingbird Centre will offer our staff and affiliates the opportunity to participate in a 2 day certificate training with a group of likeminded clinicians who have been implementing the ARC model into their treatment over several years.
Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Training
Perinatal and Infant Mental Health in-house Training Day, 2020.
At The Hummingbird Centre, we endeavour to reduce the time and costs associated with supervision costs, along with link you in with likeminded colleagues who provide similar services. In 2019, some of our supervision opportunities include:
- Regular supervision in neurofeedback with multiple international experts including Sebern Fisher, Dr Mary Ammerman and Michelle Aniftos.
Regular supervision in the assessment and treatment of structural dissociation with international expert Kathy Steele.
Regular supervision in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Supervision and support from The Hummingbird Centre Director Dr Rickie Elliot on attachment, perinatal mental health, trauma.
Supervision and support from The Hummingbird Centre Director Alikki Russell on trauma, dissociation and neurofeedback.
